I just managed to dig up a bunch of old photos from a year or two ago, so I’ll be doing very brief reviews for those kits in my next few posts.
Here’s the 00 Seven Sword/G. Pics are mostly self-explanatory anyway, so I won’t ramble on too much.
^those knee pads allows this thing to do one of the sexiest kneels ever produced by an HG kit.
THOUGHTS:
This is a gorgeous kits. IMO this should’ve been the legitimate successor to the Exia, not just a mr.twin-drives with a plane slapped onto the back. In fact, this kit retails for 1600 yen, 400 yen cheaper than the 00 Raiser, yet comes with a much more impressive arsenal and sports a better design. The articulation is insane for a HG 1/144 kit, and at the time which the 00 mould was first released, this was a huge milestone for the engineering of HGs and set a whole new standard for what we’ve come to expect of all HG kits released since. Even if you’re not a fan of the 00, that reason alone should suffice for you to consider picking up this bad boy. If you want to get a 00 gundam in 1/144, this is the kit to get. Although the Exia’s just been released in its RG form and signals the inevitable RG 00 release, I doubt the Seven Sword/G will be released in RG anytime soon since none of the MSVs have been officially released and the closest we’ve ever got to something of that sort is a P-Bandai lazy-ass RGHG mashup of the Strike Rouge IWSP. So for those of you considering a kitbash between this kit and the soon to come RG 00 Gundam, hesistate no more and buy this kit.
tl;dr:
GOOD
-insane articulation & playability
-beam sabers x2
-GN katars x2
-GN Sword II Long x1
-GN Sword II Short x1 + wire extension for “whip mode”
-GN Sword II Buster x1
-GN Buster Sword II x1
-cheaper than the 00 Raiser
-stronger design
BAD
-no O-raiser for your anime-accuracy fetish
-no double-sided sword attachment for GN Sword IIs (but compatible with the one that comes with the 00 Raiser)
